Tantus Silk Small: Review

The Tantus silk was kindly sent by Tantus Inc. in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. We decided to review the Silk small for a multitude of reasons. One being Harper has never been a fan of penetration with larger toys, another being is she is still beginner when it comes to anal. Taking these into consideration we figured the Tantus Silk would be a perfect toy to aid in those areas.

A Bit About Tantus

Tantus Inc. is a company that specializes in the production of 100% silicone sex toys. They are a major player in the push for safer toys, using the best quality materials available today. As users of toys we appreciate the positive impact they have had on the sex toy industry.

The Details

image2The Silk small is as described, small. To be honest, it was smaller than expected. A little over 4” in usable length and a diameter that is a hair above ¾” of an inch, the Silk is about the size of an average middle finger. For some that may be the perfect starter toy. Whether used anally or vaginally, it eases the transition from manual stimulation with your hand to the wonderful world of toys. If you think the Silk small is too small, Tantus currently offers the Silk three size (Small, Medium, Large) which are .8″, 1.1″, and 1.5″ in diameter respectively. The non-textured shape and lack of a bulbous head would make these ideal as dilators, or beginner toys as even the medium fits well in line with a beginner size toy. The Silk is currently offered in three colors Purple Haze, Pink Pearl, and Black. The Silk is often found as a grab bag option in various sizes, and although you do not pick the color you are guaranteed to get a quality toy for a bargain price.

Use

image1Harper does not enjoy that stretch feeling that some seek out when using toys, thus when offered the chance for a cute and tiny toy she was more than happy to finally try something that wasn’t a struggle to fit such as the General, Astral, or Cush. So far her favorite use has been coupling it with our Original Magic Wand. It is enough for internal sensation but not sizeable enough to cause discomfort. To us the Silk small is most relatable to finger penetration without the downsides such as sharp nails.

When it comes to anal use the Silk small is a perfect first step when it comes to warming up. The lack of a bulbous head and narrow diameter makes for the easiest insertion of all the toys we own. It unintimidating size and textureless shape has helped explore other exciting realms such as using a toy during intercourse for duel penetration, an activity that hasn’t worked with other toys of larger sizes.

All in all despite its small size, the Tantus silk small has opened a large amount of possibilities in the bedroom as we work on exploring new and exciting activities.

Cleaning Instructions

The 100% Ultra Premium Silicone used is nothing but quality. As with any silicone toy the options are plentiful when it comes to cleaning. Tantus suggests:

For a quick clean, use antibacterial soap with warm to hot water (Our preferred method), or use a toy cleaner (one without Triclosan!). For a more extensive clean, you can boil your product with a 10% bleach solution.
For the most thorough cleaning, you may put your product in the dishwasher on a regular cycle.

Let air dry, or clean with a lint free cloth.

  1. It’s great to see Tantus making products for every level of interest. The way you describe it is far smaller than I thought it would be.

  2. Good review! Thanks for reviewing something significantly smaller than most products. As you said, some of us need that warm-up.

  3. Yea, I have a silk and it’s very nice for warming up. I like it a lot, but I got it very cheap during a SheVibe sale. Because it’s so small though, the full $40 price tag doesn’t seem quite worth it.
