Tantus General: Review

As the blog has progressed at a much quicker rate than we ever anticipated, we were contacted by Tantus Inc. for an opportunity to review a few of their offerings. After browsing all their offers I just had to try the Tantus General. After receiving the product I have to say it is one of, if not my favorite toys we currently own. The large size paired with the amazing curve and gradual ridges along the shaft are unique and fulfilling.

A Bit About Tantus

Tantus Inc. is a company that specializes in the production of 100% silicone sex toys. They are a major player in the push for safer toys, using the best quality materials available today. As a toy user who appreciates the impact they have had on the sex toy industry.

They can be found here: Tantus Inc.

The Details

Tantus General The Tantus General is quite a large toy, and is marketed towards anal use though it is perfectly capable for vaginal use. Cast from Tantus’ Supersoft 100% Premium Platinum Grade Silicone, the General measures in with 7” in useable length. The shaft features a large curve to target the prostate/g-spot, and does so quite well. The tip measures in at 1.9” in diameter, followed by two more ridges measuring 2.0” and 2.2” respectively before settling on its harness/anal safe base. This toy is marketed to those who are a fan of size, and with the choice of material by Tantus the dimensions are more forgiving than some of their more ridged offerings.

Use

We have now owned the Tantus General for a few weeks, and since then I have fell in love. When I initially opened the packaging, the General immediately stood out, as it is both large with a wonderful shape to boot. After removing it from its package we were immediately impressed by the overall feel of the toy. The Supersoft silicone in a matte finish is wonderful to the touch, and screams quality.

Harper is not a fan of large toys when it comes to use them on her, but that doesn’t mean she shies away from using them on me. The General is large, dauntingly so but who doesn’t like a challenge. Prior to this the largest toy in our arsenal was the Tantus Cush and the Miai D3 both at 1.75” diameter so it was a pleasant step up. After warming up progressively, starting with the Purr, moving to the Cush, and then finally the General.

It was overwhelming awesome. So much so that if we negated the need to warm up to it the Tantus General would be my desert island toy. The gradual increase in diameter as you move towards the base helps ease into the large size, and the fullness felt once reaching the end is euphoric. Since receiving the General from Tantus it has been our “go to” toy during longer sessions as the need for warm up takes time, but the wait has always been worth it.

The General is harness safe and excels quite well at that. It is firm enough to hold its shape well, yet flexible enough to be slightly more forgiving in use. The 7″ in length is quite nice as the added length makes harness use a little easier.

Overall,I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who loves larger toys. It is not all that common to find larger dildos 2″+ in 100% silicone and Tantus has created a wonderful product for that corner of the market and I myself have thoroughly enjoyed its use and am sure I will to continue to for quite some time. It is difficult for me to think of a flaw to critique on as it has worked out wonderfully since we have had it. The only thing I can think of is to let everyone know that not all toys work for everybody, but the Tantus General certainly works for me. If i had to nitpick I wish it was offered in other color choices, as I find colors to be exciting. In my research before picking this toy I came across that it used to be offered in red as well but has since been discontinued.

Tantus General compared to Tantus Cush and Purr

Material

The Tantus General is made from 100% Premium silicone which is one of, if not the best material available in the toy industry. It is Hypoallergenic, Non-Toxic, and Non-Porous. What this means for us, the consumer, is that these toys are not only safe to use without the addition of harmful chemicals, but that their ability to be boiled and sanitized allows them to truly stand the test of time.

As I now own quite a few Tantus toys I have to say the material used in the General is my favorite so far. It is a matte black silicone that is not quite as firm as some of the dildos we own from them, such as the Tantus Purr. According to the Tantus website the material is labeled as “SuperSoft”, and is used in many of their larger sized products; such as the Amsterdam or Buck dildos. I would not put it anywhere near as soft as their O2 line but is less firm than their “Flexible” option. For a toy that is 2” in diameter the firmness is spot on and is now one of my favorites.

Cleaning Instructions

The 100% silicone used is nearly bullet proof. The cleaning instructions from Tantus suggest:

For a quick clean, use antibacterial soap with warm to hot water (Our preferred method), or use a toy cleaner (one without Triclosan!). For a more extensive clean, you can boil your product with a 10% bleach solution.
For the most thorough cleaning, you may put your product in the dishwasher on a regular cycle.

Let air dry, or clean with a lint free cloth.

    1. No problem. We have a Harness review up from sportsheets, it works well enough and was a decent start into the world of pegging. Eventually we got the Spareparts Joque and it changed our views on how good a harness could be. If you want to go quality first and money is not an issue go for the Spareparts. If you just want a begginer harness to dabble the Sportsheets will work just fine.

  1. There’s always this feeling of euphoria as you slide the last remaining inches inside. Thanks for the review, the tiered, increasing thicknesses is an interesting concept and has certainly perked my interest in picking one up.

    1. I currently have the rumble review in the works, taking a little longer than originally planned and it is has been a tough review to write.
