Tantus Buck: Review

The Details

IMG_0531The Tantus Buck is a graduated anal probe, a cross between anal beads and a dildo. In our use it has been great for warming up to larger toys or using it on its own for wonderful thrusting. Cast in 100% ultra-premium silicone, it is a tad softer than the usual Tantus offerings, and has a beautiful matte finish that is as great to the touch as it is in use.

To be honest when the box was first opened I was little underwhelmed by the size. The line of toys that Buck belongs to are all large toys such as the General. They would be for more “advanced” users but I wouldn’t say the same for the Buck. The Buck maxes out around 1.75” in diameter, and that is after easing down the steadily increasing diameter of the preceding bumps measuring 1.3”, 1.4”. and 1.6” respectively. But that underwhelming feeling turned around into something along the lines of a pleasant surprise. Not too long ago we received the Tantus Ripple large, which Harper thought would be helpful for her warming up, and was a little too small to small for myself. To me the Tantus Buck is everything that the Ripple should be, the increase in overall diameter, smoother transitions between the bumps along the shaft, and a decreased length that allows us to actually use the entirety of the length, and take full advantage of the increased diameter. This counts as a huge positive in my book.

Use

In use the taper head and the graduated girth of the Buck is a real joy. It is nice to have another toy that we can just pick up and use, and has since been a staple in our play. But what I find most wonderful about it is its use in warming up. Where before we would use two or more toys (consecutively, not at the same time) to eventually work up to our larger toys such as the Tantus General or even the Cush, it can now be accomplished with just one. By starting with the Buck, we are now able to work our way to the larger toys quicker, which leads us to use them more frequently as well.

Overall the Buck is a wonderful toy to add to the collection and has proven versatile in its use. Everything I personally disliked about Ripple Large has been improved in the Tantus Buck and made for what I believe is a much superior toy.

Cleaning Instructions

The 100% Ultra Premium Silicone used is nothing but quality. As with any silicone toy the options are plentiful when it comes to cleaning. Tantus suggests:

For a quick clean, use antibacterial soap with warm to hot water, or use a toy cleaner (one without Triclosan!).
For a more extensive clean, you can boil your toy for 2 minutes, with enough water to cover. You can also spray or rinse your product in a 10% bleach solution. Do NOT boil bleach.
To clean toys with grooves, crevices, and texture, you may put your product in the dishwasher on a regular cycle on the bottom rack.

For the most thorough cleaning, follow all three steps.
1. Wash the toy with soap & hot water to remove debris.
2. Spray or rinse the toy with a 10% bleach solution.
3. Run the toy through the dishwasher, bottom rack, detergent not necessary.

    1. It would. If you are looking for something similar check out the Tantus Ripple Large. Although it says large it is much smaller than the Buck.

  1. Tantus seems to be putting more effort into the ergonomics of their toys than they used to, I like the beveling on the consecutive ridges.

  2. I understand that many silicone toys recommend the use of non-silicone lubricant. Is the silicone on this toy of high enough quality to safely use silicone lubricant? Some high quality toys can handle silicone lubricant and not have that melty effect.

    1. I always stay on the side of caution when mentioning lubricants. Yes it is true that some silicone toys and lubricants are safe to use together but it isn’t something I can with certainty for every brand of lubricant, and silicone in the toys. That being said, I have not personally had a reaction when using any Tantus toy with silicone lubricants. It is best to do a test with a small dollop on the base before using on the entire toy, just as a precaution.

  3. Glad I checked this out, after reading your reviews I definitely feel more inclined to the Buck, it seems like it’s just about perfect. Thanks!

  4. Interesting! Loved that you compared it with the Ripple. I personally love the Ripple, but maybe having something a bit girthier isn’t a bad idea. I think I am going to like the ratio (length/girth) of the Buck!
